Derk van Mackelenbergh was appointed as Managing Director of Eurofrigo, in October 2001, where his job entails the operation of two public refrigerated warehouses that contain 67’000 pallet places, being responsible for overseeing the company’s activities as well as its long term growth and future projects.

Starting his career in 1977 as an international surveyor and loss adjuster, he joined the Eurofrigo group in 1985 as their Managing Director of forwarding activities. Between 1993 and 2000 Van Mackelenbergh has worked on interim bases for various logistic and trading companies, mainly in the field of logistic operational projects as well as marketing and sales. 

In May 2000 Van Mackelenbergh re-joined the Nichirei Group as operational Manager of the Eurofrigo Rotterdam Port Cold Stores.In 2003 Van Mackelenbergh was selected to the Board of Governors of the World Food Logistic Organization and became member of the Executive Board as Treasurer in April 2006.

Together with his activities at Eurofrigo, van Mackelenbergh is a member, and since 2009 Chairman, of the W.F.L.O., a non-profit organization dedicated to the proper handling and storage of perishable products and the development of systems and best practices for the safe, efficient and reliable movement of food.
