Mr. Sawai studied Mechanical Design & Heat-transfer Engineering at Osaka University. In 1981, he joined Daikin as designer for container refrigeration machinery. He was part of the design team that developed the best selling Scroll Compressor Reefer Unit, the LXE reefer series.

After 13 years involved in the design and development of reefer units, he was appointed Design Manager for one of Daikin’s major products, large air conditioning systems called the VRV series. These applied Daikin’s pioneering technology in “Variable Refrigerant Volume” with the system generally considered to be the best currently available for mid to large applications, winning ‘Air Conditioning Product of the Year’ in 2008in H&V News. 

Mr Sawai has extensive and specialized experience in designing temperature andrefrigerant control systems, designing for machine strength and developing anti-vibration solutions.  He now manages Development, Manufacturing and Technical Teams a well as General Manager for overseas Sales. 

He also has seven years experience as Deputy General Manager of Quality Control, Product Planning & Development Design in Daikin Europe N.V.
